American’s often assume that they have access to the best level of health care in the world.
When they walk into a doctor’s office, whether that doctor is a general practitioner or a specialist, the chronic pain patient feels assured that the doctor standing before them knows about and has access to all the latest advances in medicine, can properly diagnose them and prescribe the most appropriate treatment known.
I’m sad to say that this is not true.
For many reasons, numerous therapies that are approved and effectively used in countries around the world are unknown, untried or even banned in the United States. Consequently, more and more people are seeking treatment outside the United States. Jerry smith is just one example.
American doctors gave Jerry Smith, of Texas, USA, only months to live from his ‘incurable’ disease – Pulmonary Fibrosis. Determined not to give up, Jerry sought the help of a doctor in Germany, was cured of his disease and seven years later is alive and well. His story reveals why your cure from chronic muscle and joint pain may also have to come from overseas.
In 2004, at the age of 64, Jerry’s doctor diagnosed him with Pulmonary Fibrosis, and told Jerry that the scarring of his lungs had no treatment or cure and that he could expect to live about 6 to 24 months. Several other doctors gave the same diagnosis.
Determined not to give up, Jerry had an inspiration – to google a doctor who has his own lab, so that he could analyze him. Through the internet, Jerry located a doctor/researcher in Germany.
The German doctor requested that Jerry send him 20 cc of his blood to be analyzed. Jerry then went to eight different doctors in his area, all of whom refused to work with him. Their comments ran from “What do you want to do with the blood? This is outside of the AMA ‘box’, a waste of your time and money,” to “It’s voodoo medicine.”
Jerry finally found a homeopathic doctor in Fortworth, Texas who took his blood. That blood was sent to the doctor in Germany. After months of analyzing it and working on a serum, Jerry was finally sent the serum and instructed on its’ use.
Using the serum, Jerry’s lung capacity began to increase and his Pulmonary Fibrosis went into remission. Three years later, after a second set of serums, Jerry was completely cured.
In June, 2008, Jerry revisited his local pulmonary doctor, who said, “This is impossible, but you are in remission.” The doctor then lifted his hands to the ceiling, exclaiming “Well, I guess it’s just one of those God things”.
Since then, Jerry has received numerous calls from people who want treatment by the German doctor, but have been unable to get their local doctor to give them their own blood.
Jerry contacted the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation of America and the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis in California, organizations that work to prove or disprove medical claims. After giving them numerous medical records, including the hospital lung biopsy and a letter from his American doctor stating he was cured, Jerry was told he was either lying or misdiagnosed. He finally arranged for them to talk to his doctor in Germany, but, four months later, neither organization had done so.
Jerry was only contacted once, by the University of Texas, Southwest Medical Center, though they only wanted to use him as a “guinea pig” for one of the new drugs they were experimenting with, a drug not approved by the FDA.
The American medical profession still doesn’t believe Jerry, claiming that there is no cure for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Jerry has referred numerous people to his doctor in Germany, many of whom have re-contacted Jerry stating they have been cured of their ‘incurable’ disease. Jerry, himself, who had been given six months to live, has been alive and well for seven years.
I recently corresponded with Jerry Smith and asked him how he feels about the lack of alternative healthcare choices available in the United States. He responded, “I feel that there is somewhat a degree of conspiracy to discourage us from seeking alternative and unconventional medicine outside this country.”
“I believe that most senior citizens do realize that our freedoms of choice are being taken away from us.” Jerry Smith stated. “However I don’t think that feeling is shared by the younger population. I never felt uneasy about contacting a doctor outside this country (USA) because my doctor told me ‘there is no cure, medicine or hope anywhere in the world – just wait to die.’ ”
As the assistant to Professor /Dr. Rothbart, I’ve had contact with numerous doctors that have left the United States in order to deliver the level of medical care they find most effective. I am also frequently contacted by chronic pain patients asking why these treatments, if they are effective, are not available in the United States.
I present Jerry Smith’s story as just one example of why, as a chronic pain patient, you may wish to consider that your cure exists outside the U.S. borders.
